After the excesses of the holiday season, most of us may find ourselves feeling a little bit tight – not just in the pants but also in the pockets.
This is certainly not the case for one lucky duck in Ontario. This extremely fortunate individual had a huge helping of luck on their side in the Tuesday 07/01/2020 Lotto Max draw – they will be able to claim the record-setting CA$70 million jackpot.
The following numbers – 03, 08, 12, 14, 17, 18 and 29, with the bonus number 29 – proved to be the winning combination which will see this person (or indeed, several persons) set for life.
While only one individual ticket scored the grand prize, 19 people also enjoyed a fabulous windfall, with 19 Maxmillions winning tickets purchased, worth CA$1 million each. Nearly half of these tickets were sold in Quebec.
And if you’re wishing that could have been you, there’s always another chance to try your luck at winning the grand prize. The jackpot for the next Lotto Max draw on 10/01/2020 is a very respectable CA$33 million. It may not break the record, but it’s a sum nobody can sneer at!
What is Lotto Max?
Lotto Max is one of the most popular nationwide lotteries in Canada. The lottery is drawn twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Lotto Max players get three sets of numbers for every CA$5 play. Each set consists of 7 numbers from 1 to 50.
The jackpots start at CA$10 million, and as we have just seen, can go all the way up to CA$70 million.
And as soon as the main jackpot hits the CA$50 million mark, CA$1 million Maxmillions prizes are also put up for grabs. All three sets of numbers are eligible for the Lotto Max main draw, as well as the Maxmillions draws when these are held.
How to play Lotto Max?
There are three main ways to play Lotto Max.
Quick Pick – A quick pick ticket contains randomly generated numbers. You can either ask your lottery retailer for a Quick Pick or tick the Quick Pick box on the Lotto Max selection slip. This gives the instruction to the lottery terminal to choose the three sets of numbers for you.
Pick Your Own – With Pick Your Own, you get to choose the numbers. Mark the seven numbers you want to play. The lottery terminal automatically generates two additional sets of numbers for each set of numbers played. You can play up to five times per ticket, and if you want to play for more than one draw, all you have to do is mark the number of draws in the Advance Play box.
Encore – Last but not least, Encore is a bonus game which gives players the chance to win CA$1 million. All you have to do to participate is either ask the lottery retailer to include Encore on Quick Picks with your host game, or mark how many Encore you want to play on your Selection Slip.
