Masquerade Balls have held some kind of weird fascination for a long time. They became a staple of society in Carnival season in the 15^th century. But Charles VI of France already held some kind of costumed ball to celebrate his upcoming marriage in 1393.

Nowadays, we associate masquerade balls with high society and even royalty in period pieces. Normal folk would rather go to a costume party where they show their face and instead disguise everything else. That is coincidently where costume parties seem to be coming from as well.

In the Masquerade slot, you play in front of a dimly lit foggy street and you hear the chatter and the clanking of cutlery and glasses of the attendants. This adds a nice little piece of immersion but is also a little distracting. We would have liked to hear the music more often, not only when the reels are spinning. The only time you get to listen to the nice waltz music constantly is, if you set the gameplay to automatic spinning.

As we mentioned above, you play Masquerade on your average 5 reels. The row layout is a little unusual however, with a 2-3-4-3-2 layout. This makes for some interesting possibilities on the 20 fixed paylines.

The low-paying symbols in the game are the card values 10 to A and they are designed in a luscious way, so that they really stand out. 10 to Q pay the least, while K pays a little more with A being the most valuable of the low-paying symbols.

On the high-value end we have a top hat, a pocket watch and a sigil ring with a lady in a mask being the most valuable symbol of the game.

The entry fee for the Masquerade starts with a very budget friendly and sensible $0.20. But since the maximum win is 1,000x your bet, you might want to crank up the stakes. Because while $200 aren’t bad off an initial bet of $0.20, $100,000 off the maximum bet of $100 is where the real money waits.

You do have to be a little careful however since the volatility is at least medium and even leaning towards the high end. So, you won’t see wins (especially high ones) very frequently and will need a sizeable bankroll to get what you want from this slot. This might be one of the reasons why Red Tiger themselves market this slot more towards the VIP segment of players.

Another reason for that might be the below-average RTP of only 95.22% making this one of the modern slots that gets its players back less of their invested money than usual.
