Queen of the Crystal Rays - Theme and Background

Queen of the Crystal Rays runs on a very dynamic concept. If I had to try and label it, I would say that the theme is smash up of comic book style graphics, overlaid with futuristic digitized appeal.

The music is slightly electronic, and there’s something very hypnotic about the entire experience. Everything is centered on crystals, magic and light using very bright neon colors. The layout is very animated, with glitzy arrows constantly traveling up and down the grid on either side, poised to shoot Wilds when the time is right (more on this feature below).

Across the reels you’ll find a series of themed symbols including several colored crystals (purple, red, green, blue), a multicolored spherical crystal (the Scatter), a tilted chalice, a glowing chest, a bonus symbol, a 2 x multiplier symbol, and the Queen herself in all her Wonder Woman-style headband-ed glory.

The music is beautiful yet unexpected. Made up of wind instruments and pretty chiming noises, I had no inclination to hit the mute button whatsoever. Shocker.

I couldn’t quite make my mind up when it came this slot. I liked the theme idea, though I do feel Marvel’s Wonder Woman has been pretty heavily ripped off. But the ethereal crystal concept was diluted by a very digitized design, that made me feel like I was playing some 80s space invader game.

That said, the special features were fairly easy to activate, one of which is triggered at random. Wins aren’t large, but definitely helped along by the liberal use of multipliers throughout both the base game and the special features. I suppose this balances things out.

Overall I would say Queen of the Crystal Rays is suitable for players who would be satisfied with Medium wins on a semi-regular basis. I can’t quite work out how to get near the advertised 2,597 x maximum win, but you are definitely guaranteed a fairly spectacular light show.
