In terms of graphics there are no real surprises here. It’s dinosaurs and everything that usually comes with them. Picture a forest littered with tall trees and scaly creatures that intermittently emit roars brimming with fury. I’m not entirely certain if they’re pleased or indignant when I pocket my winnings, because to create a smiling dinosaur has never been reattempted since Barney – and we’re all pretty grateful.
The game is obviously presided by a T-Rex, who stands in as the Wild symbol, substituting for all symbols except the Scatter. He’s accompanied by four other mighty dinosaurs (the Velociraptor, the Dilophosaurus, the Triceratops, and the Parasaurolophus). Aside from Mr Rex & Co. the reels display a number of fossilized insects and reptiles (a mosquito, a spider, a beetle, a scorpion, a dragonfly, and a lizard) which are the lower scoring symbols. The Scatter is a meteor, a little joke on the game developer’s part, recalling the disaster that ultimately sent dinosaurs into extinction.
To the sounds of a thundering waterfall you’ll spin your way through the prehistoric creatures, waiting to hit up on the bonus features which will hopefully carry you onto big winnings. I was particularly thrilled when I landed a full stack of the T-Rex and he came roaring to life with some very satisfactory sound effects.
