Spinfinity Man is your regular comic book-inspired superhero, complete with cape, super-tight lycra pants and a toothy smile that could blind a rhinoceros. BetSoft’s version of a caped crusader comes in the shape of a high volatility slot with a generous selection of special features and cascading symbols.
The paytable is cleared by conjuring up a healthy dose of freeze rays and laser beams, obliterating winning combinations and facing off with Betropolis’s troublesome villain, Mr X. But is it worth the danger? Read on to find out how I fared during my day in the life of a superhero.
There’s a new hero in town, and his name is Spinfinity Man. This lycra-clad muscle man is offering players the opportunity to hit lucky. Set in an unnamed metropolis, this slot looks fairly unimpressive at first sight. The backdrop is static, comprised of generic high rises and a hovering Spinfinity Man looking robust and healthy.
On the left side of the reels is the villain trail (more on this below), which is the only part of the backdrop that animates outside of the spinning reels and triggered features. The music is suitably bombastic and what you’d expect from every single Marvel movie. I’m certain the track isn’t original and although I couldn’t place it I was immediately humming along. I happily kept the sound on for my hour of game time.
Across the reels are unremarkable looking A, K, Q, J and 10. The designers didn’t work particularly hard to make these look special. There are also two appearances from our leading man, an explosion symbol, what looks like an icicle cluster, the infinity sign (the wild), our villain Mr X (immediately recognizable), and something bright and purple. Read on to find out what each of these achieve when they come together for a win.
Spinfinity Man - Gameplay
Spinfinity Man comes with lots of features, which is a very good thing because as a high volatility slot, you’ll quickly notice your budget seeping away while you wait to hit big. This slot makes up for this by incorporating a sprinkling of little boosters that help you to claw back your spent bets. But what are they? And how often can you expect them to manifest?
This is represented by the symbol for infinity (but pointier) and it substitutes for all adjacent symbols except for our villain Mr X (see below) and Spinfinity Man himself. That means low to mid paying symbols are all you get to benefit from, so don’t expect massive payouts through the Wild in the base game.
Villain Trail/Free Spins
This meter on the right side of the grid is how you activate the free spins feature. The designers were clever enough to create a trackable meter thats serves to keep players around longer, waiting to see what happens once the trail is complete.
Collect 10 villain symbols (the dude with red eyes and crazy hair) as they land on the reels to complete the trail. The problem is that it’s quite a slog getting to 10, and the high volatility means you don’t get paid out as much as you’d expect due to several dry spins. But once you do activate the feature, landing Mr X again will cause him to explode the symbols around him, paying out their value.
And what’s a super hero without stardom? Spinfinity Man feeds off the love of the crowd, so after 6 cluster explosions, fans take a snapshot of Spinfinity Man (thereby increasing his fame and influence) that unlocks a cluster of symbols which will explode, forming yet another cascade of symbols.
5 Base Game Superpowers
The superpowers are activated in the base game when a Spinfinity Man symbol falls onto the grid. Any of the following can be triggered at random:
– Laser Eye Beam obliterates 2 rows of columns symbols
– Double Icy Blast will shatter a large cluster of symbols
– Telepathy will remove an entire random symbol from the grid
All will allow the player to collect the value of the obliterated symbols, and provide a new set of symbols to cascade down in their place, potentially increasing the win further. This happens quite frequently which is great because it’s a guaranteed pay out and somewhat makes up for your spend during the inevitable dry spins.
Payouts and Wagering Limits
In the base game players will get paid each time a cluster of 4 or more matching symbols is created. Out of all 11 symbols, the lowest paying ones are the generic A, K, Q, and J.
There are also what I like to think of as premium symbols, bringing more rewarding wins if you can get them on a winning payline. In this slot you want to just hope for crystals – the blue crystals, purple crystals, orange crystals, and diamond crystals.
The diamond crystals pay the most at up to 10x. The logo symbol pays 9x for 8 in a cluster. Hit on a super wild to create a bigger winning cluster.
Spinfinity Man - Final Verdict
Starting with the good stuff, the obvious benefit is the cascading style, which gives you more bang for your buck per spin. The varied superpowers also keep things moving decently in the base game.
On the flip side, I found the design a little underwhelming, as was the free spins feature which didn’t deliver nearly enough winnings considering the amount of spins required to trigger it. Dry spins were a very real concern here, which phase out a lot of smaller budget players.
In short, some great ideas in terms of features and worth a shot for high rollers, but regular joe players probably won’t trust Spinfinity Man to save the day.
