Our creatures of the night enter the scene on a moonlit evening. Where are they? Somewhere with cobbled streets, gothic architecture and foliage aplenty. A full moon sits high in the sky, notoriously a red flag for anyone wishing to avoid werewolves.

The grid itself is encased by a gilded frame, and within it sit six main characters, three of which are vampires while the other three are werewolves. These really come into their own during the bonus features, but more on this below. You can easily tell the wolves from the vampires, even in their human form, thanks to the abundance of lustrous hair. The vampires, on the other hand, are paler and wear a self-satisfied smirk.

The remaining symbols are a golden Wild, 2 Scatters in the form of moonlit vistas (a wolf scatter and a vampire scatter) and all 4 card suits hewn from different colored gem stones. I don’t think the theme music is exactly right for the slot, somehow sounding far too cheery set against the brooding characters and dimly lit streets and manor houses. It’s also quite short and set on a loop, which winds up becoming fairly annoying over an extended period of time.

The biggest disappointment with this slot is that there’s a distinct lack of special features. This reality is somewhat compensated by the fact that the solitary Free Spins feature can be applied in 2 different ways. Once you land 2 Scatters, the wolf scatter on reel 1 and the vampire scatter on reel 5, you’ll be presented with a choice between 2 free spin versions:

• The purple-haired vampire pays 18 x for 5 on a payline
• All card suit symbols pay between 10x and 3x for 5 on a payline

The slot is capable of delivering a top prize of 1,000 x your bet, but this is only possible during either game of the free spins feature. The higher your stake, the better the prizes, and if you’re playing at the maximum bet of C$50, then you could be looking at a chance to walk away with up to C$50,000. How likely is it that you’ll get there? At the end of the day it’s a game of chance, so there are no guarantees, but it feels like this slot’s mechanics give you a decent chance at getting close, even if it won’t take you all the way.
