There are four friendly canines in play, all rearing to hit the finish line first. Play’n GO did a great job of adding personality to the slot, particularly by naming the animals and letting players choose a dog to back during the special features. Braveheart, Daring Dex, Beadle’s Teabag (what?!), and Oh My Dog and the four stars of this slot. After a few spins I grew rather attached to the four legged athletes, and I think this played a fairly large part in keeping me around longer.
Of course this was also down to the fantastic theme as a whole, which is built on the anticipation of a cheering crowd, and the act of actually putting your money down on a dog and urging him to make it to the finish line first. The graphics are well designed, and I’ve even forgiven the presence of generic card symbols. The background noise is made up of ambient noises like cheering crowds and speaker announcements, while the backdrop is the track itself.
Play’n GO put a lot of love into this one but it’s probably worth pointing out that dog racing is a controversial topic, one which many think of as inhumane. So it was a risky choice by the provider. I wasn’t particularly bothered by this, seeing as no animals could be harmed in the making of a slot, but I’m aware not everyone would agree.
